Principle Photography Wrapped! ...Kinda

Principle photography is officially wrapped! Congratulations, cast and crew of Yamek Dire! Technically, we still have one full night of shooting to finish up the Final Standoff scene, but otherwise it's on to pickups. We're putting a rough assembly together of the footage we have this week to see if there are gaps we need to fill. Things are coming together. My goal is to have a pretty polished cut by the end of this quarter (mid-December) so that at the beginning of next quarter we can focus on ADR, foley, scoring, compositing, etc.

Thanks for checking in! Enjoy the new pictures!

Almost There!

Wow! I'm tired! This weekend went pretty well--we got establishing shots at McGeorge School of Law and shot one scene with Josh. We got rained out during the first part of the day and didn't finish everything, but what we did get looked great. One thing is for sure, the rainy aesthetic I wanted to achieve throughout the film is turning out to be a lot less expensive than I had originally anticipated!

Hope you all are getting rest and gearing up for our last weekend of principle photography! There's a light at the end of the tunnel, folks :)

Rain, Concussions, and Pickups, Oh My!

Despite weather issues, the show went on this weekend, and actually, the rain really added to the aesthetic of the scenes. We shot the first half of our fight scene and the rest of our warehouse stuff; all in all, it went very well. The more our cast and crew work together, the more seamless a day of production seems to go.

Craziest story of production so far: the villain in the film, who's scene we shot Friday night, was hit by a car Friday morning. Although she suffered a mild concussion, her doctor gave her the go ahead to shoot a fight scene. Maybe not such a great doctor. She was a trooper and went through multiple takes of martial arts sequences-IN THE RAIN-but could only take so much after a certain point. Our night was cut short by a few hours, but her health and safety took absolute priority over finishing the scene. Yay for pickups!

This weekend went SO well! We shot all day Sunday and got so much accomplished and managed to have a really good time as well. I'm pleased with the way the day went and how the footage came out. We shot most of the warehouse scene where the main character of the film is being interrogated. This coming weekend is our big fight scene and the rest of the warehouse stuff. Can't wait!

Attached are some behind the scenes photos from what we shot this weekend.

Welcome!

To everyone reading, welcome to my blog. This will be a great way to journal the production of my senior film, "Yamek Dire." Thankfully, it's a requirement to post which means I'll be able to look back and read this someday when I'm a big-time filmmaker and laugh at all the details that make me want to scream right now!

That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
